The Alabama Department of Transportation has launched an upgraded version of its ALGO Traffic app and website to help drivers navigate more safely and avoid road congestion. New features like real-time weather data and expanded roadside assistance information aim to keep travelers informed and make driving in Alabama easier.

The updated ALGO Traffic platform offers these key improvements:

  • Animated Weather Radar: The app now includes an animated radar layer, much like popular weather apps. It shows current and forecasted precipitation so that drivers can plan around rain, snow or other weather conditions that may affect their travel.
  • Expanded ASAP Coverage Details: ALGO Traffic provides specific information about the Alabama Service Assistance Patrol (ASAP) coverage areas and service hours. The ASAP program offers support by helping clear incidents, maintaining roads and assisting motorists on major highways. With ASAP details accessible on ALGO Traffic, drivers have more immediate roadside support options.
  • Dark Mode for Low-Light Settings: In response to requests, ALGO Traffic now offers dark mode for night driving. This setting provides a more comfortable viewing experience, particularly in low-light conditions.
  • Redesigned Tablet Layout: The new layout, available for Android, iPad and other tablets, improves navigation. It will be easier to find updates and features on larger screens, streamlining the user experience.

ALDOT’s focus on safety and usability

The latest ALGO Traffic update provides users with a more intuitive and informative experience. New features like the animated radar layer and expanded ASAP coverage allow drivers to plan around weather conditions and access roadside support when they need it.
