A project to add additional truck passing lanes on US-431 in Chambers County will begin on March 24, 2025. The project was awarded to Gary Ingram Grading and Paving, Inc., the lowest bidder, for $8.17 million. The contractor will have 170 working days to complete the project. Construction is to begin on March 24.
The truck passing lane project will add approximately 2.4 miles of additional lanes at two locations along US-431. The southern location, from milepost 164.8 to milepost 165.5, will provide a second lane for southbound traffic, while the northern section will provide a second northbound lane from milepost 174.208 to approximately milepost 174.8 and a second southbound lane from approximately milepost 174.8 to just south of CR-278. The project also adds a left-turn lane for southbound traffic on US-431 turning onto CR-278.
The project also involves resurfacing as part of ALDOT’s annual maintenance program to upgrade older and deteriorating sections of roadway. Resurfacing will improve US-431 from just south of CR-93 to just north of CR-229.
The project was awarded to the lowest bidder, Gary Ingram Grading and Paving, Inc., for $8.17 million.
