ALDOT opening updated I-65 south rest area near Greenville

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is excited to announce the reopening of the I-65 south rest area near Greenville, in Butler County.

The rest area will be open to the traveling public beginning Wednesday, Nov. 19, ahead of the original projection of Spring 2026.

Crews demolished the outdated facility in May 2024 and replaced it with a new, modern rest area designed with capacity, comfort, and accessibility in mind. The new rest area features an increase is parking capacity, including more space for passenger vehicles, trucks, and buses.

The new facility is fully ADA compliant and features many upgrades to enhance the convenience and comfort for all travelers.
