Crash fatalities decline in Alabama in 2024

Alabama saw a decline in traffic fatalities in 2024, according to the newly released Alabama Crash Facts report available online at the Drive Safe Alabama Website.

The report shows 967 motor vehicle fatalities statewide, down from 975 in 2023. Total crashes also fell, from just over 143,000 in 2023 to right above 140,000 in 2024....

An upcoming paving project will resurface SR-291 in Gadsden. Most work will take place at night.

A $1.1 million paving project on SR-291 in Gadsden will begin next week, weather permitting.

After closing the inside lane of I-65 southbound Saturday night, work proceeded around the clock to complete the repair as quickly as possible.
