A project to add additional truck passing lanes on US-431 in Chambers County will begin on March 24, 2025. The project was awarded to Gary Ingram Grading and Paving, Inc., the lowest bidder, for $8.17 million. The contractor will have 170 working days to complete the project. Construction is to begin on March 24.

When a landslide destroyed US-231 in 2020, ALDOT's solution was to construct bridges across the unstable area. In this photo from July 2020, contractor Brasfield & Gorrie is constructing bridge columns and caps.

Five years ago today, ALDOT leaders met with concerned residents from several north Alabama counties to unveil an ambitious plan to repair US-231 after a landslide destroyed parts of the highway in Morgan County.
