The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to repair 15 bridge decks and install new guardrail at various locations on I-20/59 westbound from near milepost 64 to near Exit 71 in Tuscaloosa.
Lane closures are expected to begin Monday, Jan. 6 and will continue until summer 2025, weather permitting. The contractor must keep at least one lane open at all times. Also, the contractor is not allowed to have more than a two-mile lane closure.
The contractor substantially completed a similar project on the eastbound side of the interstate earlier this year. However, the contractor will spend approximately two weeks on the eastbound side to finish the final bridge deck.
Comanche Construction was awarded the project at $4.59 million.
Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
