First reconstructed southbound segment of I-59 to open to traffic

Five miles of reconstructed I-59 southbound roadway north of Reece City are ready for traffic.

About five miles of reconstructed I-59 — the first segment of the southbound roadway replaced in northeast Alabama — will open today.

I-59 emergency slab repair to begin July 14

ALDOT's contractor will perform an emergency slab repair and replacement on I-59 between Fort Payne and Collinsville. The effects of the underlying concrete slabs deteriorating can be seen northbound near Portersville Gap Road.

An emergency slab repair and replacement project on 13 miles of I-59 in DeKalb County will begin Monday, July 14.
