Venture Construction, a subcontractor for Vulcan Materials on the $6.8 million project, is applying a high friction surface treatment to parts of the highway through Lucas Gap, south of Cathedral Caverns Road.

Vulcan Materials will resurface about seven miles of US-431 from the north the Tennessee River in Guntersville to Cathedral Caverns Highway, south of Grant.
