Most North Alabama state routes pretreated ahead of winter storm

ALDOT workers make salt brine for pretreatment of state routes at the Dutton District Office in Jackson County on Friday.

ALDOT pretreated most state routes in North Alabama in the lead up to this weekend’s anticipated winters storm.

“Useless overpass” and Eastside Drive bridge slated for painting

A contractor for ALDOT will paint the "useless" overpass on US-231/SR-53/South Memorial Parkway in Huntsville to help to protect the bridge and extend its useful life.

New paint will help extend the useful life of what many Huntsville residents refer to as the “useless overpass.”

Cekra Inc., working on a $420,000 contract, will paint the overpass on US-231/SR-53/South Memorial Parkway in Huntsville as well as an overpass on I-759 in Gadsden.

Third overhead DMS to be installed on I-565 Thursday, Sept. 25

A dynamic message sign (DMS), like the one pictured, will be installed on Thursday, September 25 on I-565 westbound near Triana Boulevard in Huntsville. The DMS pictured, on I-565 westbound between County Line Road and Greenbrier Parkway, was installed earlier in the project.

Night resurfacing of US-72 East to begin

The intersection of US-72 East and Moores Mill Road in Huntsville, looking east, in a February file photo. Beginning the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 2, a contractor for ALDOT will resurface about 6.5 miles of US-72 from the intersection east.

Left turn lanes from North Memorial Parkway to Mastin Lake Road reopen

Signals positioned under the overpass govern the left turn lanes from North Memorial Parkway to Mastin Lake Road.

The left turn lanes from the US-231/US-431/North Memorial Parkway service roads to Mastin Lake Road reopened today.

Final paving to begin for SR-53 intersections in Madison County

The $4 million ATRIP-II project includes installation of signals on SR-53 at the intersections with Old Railroad Bed Road, pictured, and Harvest Road.
