High friction surface treatment work begins on US-431

Venture Construction, a subcontractor for Vulcan Materials on the $6.8 million project, is applying a high friction surface treatment to parts of the highway through Lucas Gap, south of Cathedral Caverns Road.

Work began today to add a finishing touch to the resurfacing of US-431 north of Guntersville in Marshall County.

Two Marshall County resurfacing projects to start soon

Vulcan Materials will resurface about seven miles of US-431 from the north the Tennessee River in Guntersville to Cathedral Caverns Highway, south of Grant.

Contractors will soon begin two resurfacing projects near Guntersville in Marshall County.

Weather permitting, Vulcan Materials will start Monday, May 12, resurfacing about seven miles of US-431. The project extends from the north end of the Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Tennessee River in Guntersville to Cathedral Caverns Highway, south of Grant. The $6.8 million…

Girders installed for the new SR-75 bridge

Cranes hoisted the final girder for the new SR-75 bridge at Lakeview into place Monday morning.

The girders – huge steel beams – will support the future bridge deck spanning Town Creek in DeKalb County, east of the Marshall County line.
