Shelby County I-65 widening project is clicking in all three phases

Bridge construction is underway in the I-65 widening project north of Calera's Exit 231.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is making noticeable progress on the eight-mile I-65 widening in Shelby County, a priority project of Governor Ivey’s.

The first two phases of the $143M job began in February and June, while the final middle phase kicked off in October.

Governor Ivey Announces Next Round of Annual Grant Projects

Governor Kay Ivey gave remarks at the completion ceremony for the US-82 Rebuild Alabama Project at Indian Hills Country Club Friday January 31, 2025 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The first of the four initial, major Rebuild Alabama projects announced by Governor Ivey, this 2.77-mile section of US-82 from SR-69 to Rice Mine Road serves as a main corridor for more than 50,000 vehicles per day. CR-49 in Geneva County temporarily closed for SR-52 project

Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, a section of CR-49 in Geneva County will be closed until Friday, Sept. 19.

The contractor for the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Rebuild Alabama project to widen SR-52 will close the section to complete the new CR-49 connector across SR-52.
