The Alabama Department of Transportation has been closely monitoring traffic flow since the I-65 and exit 168 (South Boulevard) off ramp project began in early September.  Due to increased delays and traffic queues, ALDOT has reevaluated the traffic plan to prioritize safety and expedite construction.

The US-82 and US-431 intersection relocation in Eufaula begins tomorrow, October 1.

The primary purpose of the project is to enhance safety along the corridor. Currently, US-82 intersects US-431 at a 45-degree angle; this project will reconfigure the intersection to a 90-degree angle. The new roadway will also feature wider shoulders, including two-foot paved shoulders.

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 23, the southbound rest area on I-85 in Macon County will be temporarily closed for maintenance and improvements. The northbound rest area will be temporarily closed starting Wednesday, Sept. 24.

During the closure, crews will resurface the parking lots and make minor repairs and paint the buildings, pavilions, and picnic tables.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, a section of CR-49 in Geneva County will be closed until Friday, Sept. 19.

The contractor for the Alabama Department of Transportation’s Rebuild Alabama project to widen SR-52 will close the section to complete the new CR-49 connector across SR-52.

Travelers should seek alternate routes and plan accordingly for possible delays.
