ALDOT reopens US-231 following extensive sinkhole repair in St. Clair County

US-231 reopened to traffic in St Clair County Tuesday evening following an extensive sinkhole repair.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has reopened US-231 following extensive work to reinforce its foundation in St. Clair County following ongoing sinkhole impacts.

ALDOT contractors have finished excavating the site and filled it in with multiple layers of stone and geogrid material.

ALDOT to host public involvement meeting in Springville

Public Involvement Meeting at Springville Middle School

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will host a come-and-go style public involvement meeting at the Springville Middle School to discuss a potential project on US-11 involving plans for roadway, drainage and sidewalk improvements.

The upgrades are proposed for the section of US-11 between New Talladega Road and Wilson Street.

Planned lane closures on I-59 SB, in St. Clair County

Weather permitting, beginning Tuesday, May 27th, the I-59 southbound Rest Area at Milepost 167.4 in Ashville will be closed for repairs.

This Rest Area will be closed 24/7, Tuesday, May 27th at midnight through Friday, May 30th at midnight.

Planned lane closure on I-20 westbound, in Riverside

Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will inspect the I-20 bridge over the Coosa River beginning at approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15.

This operation will require a lane to be closed during the bridge inspection. The bridge will be inspected between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
