Starting this week, some property owners along the US-31 to SR-79 section of the Birmingham Northern Beltline near Pinson, Ala. will receive visits from Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) representatives.
These representatives are preparing to survey properties to ensure proper roadway alignment and to evaluate environmental impacts. Engaging with property owners is part of ALDOT’s standard process for highway projects.
“As the project moves forward, ALDOT will continue to involve the public and communicate updates as part of its design and construction process,” said ALDOT East Central Region Engineer DeJarvis Leonard. “These efforts are crucial to providing transparency and ensuring the project proceeds smoothly and efficiently.”
The initial phase of construction on the Birmingham Northern Beltline began in late June 2024 between SR-79 and SR-75 in Jefferson County. When fully completed, the Northern Beltline will be a 52-mile interstate stretching from Interstate 59 in northeast Jefferson County to the I-459 interchange near Bessemer.
