The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will replace the bridge over Sugar Creek and adjust the grade along SR-63 from milepost 27.925 to the US-280 intersection.
This project will require the closure of SR-63 for approximately eight months. A detour route utilizing SR-128, Coven Abbett Road, and US-280 will be in effect during the closure.
The project began on April 28, 2025. Weather permitting, detour signs will be in place, and this section of SR-63 will be closed on May 5, 2025.
Motorists should adjust arrival/departure times. Please observe work zone signs and detour speed limits, and use caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this project to improve Alabama’s roadways.
