Three projects are proposed for adding a travel lane to the northbound and southbound roadways of I- 65 between the cities of Calera to Alabaster. Existing I-65, in this corridor, is a 4-lane divided roadway, with three sets of bridges.

The construction of the additional lanes will be accomplished by widening towards the median. The existing bridges will be replaced and constructed to match the widened roadway. When completed, the proposed roadway improvements will provide a six-lane facility. Three lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions.

Improvements to Exit 234 will include the construction of a loop ramp from eastbound CR-87 to northbound I-65 to eliminate the existing left turn traffic delays at the northbound I-65 on ramp.

Acquisition of additional right-of-way is not anticipated but may be required.

All comments regarding this project must be summitted on or before March 29, 2024.
