Norfolk Southern closed the railroad crossing on SR-35/Fifth Avenue in Fort Payne this morning for track repairs and improvements. The closure between US-11/Gault Avenue and Godfrey Avenue is expected to extend into Wednesday afternoon.

January's winter storm created potholes on many routes, including parts of I-65 in Morgan County.

Several Alabama Department of Transportation operations will take place on I-65 in north Alabama this week, including hot mix pothole patching, guardrail repairs, and core sampling. ALDOT is planning these operations for the middle of the week to limit lane closures to off-peak travel hours on the days anticipated to have the lightest traffic volume.

An ALDOT crew spreads sand on a diesel fuel spill on I-65 in Cullman County following a crash that closed both southbound lanes Friday morning.

A Friday morning crash involving a commercial vehicle on I-65 close to mile marker 313, near Vinemont in Cullman County, left a tangled section of guardrail blocking the southbound lanes and approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled on the pavement.

Most of the work on the US-72/Florence Boulevard widening project takes place behind concrete barriers, separating traffic from workers.

An eight-mile segment of aging I-59 northbound between Fort Payne and Hammondville in DeKalb County is being replaced with a new concrete roadway.

The Alabama Department of Transportation opened bids today for the fourth project in an ongoing effort to reconstruct the I-59 corridor in northeast Alabama.

The project includes pavement removal, grading, drainage, and pavement replacement on more than eight miles of the northbound roadway of I-59 from SR-117 at Hammondville to the Georgia state line.
