Gadsden interstate ramp closures planned for paving

The ramp from I-759 westbound to I-59 southbound, shown here in a 2025 file photo, is one of three interchange ramps scheduled for paving by ALDOT crews.

Expect interstate ramp closures in the Gadsden area on upcoming dates for maintenance paving by ALDOT.

ALDOT to widen SR-53 in Harvest

The $5.3 million project will expand the highway to five lanes for about one mile, from Taurus Drive, just north of Jeff Road, to Harvest Road.

Widening to add lanes on SR-53 in the Harvest area of Madison County will soon begin.

The $5.3 million project will expand the highway to five lanes for about one mile, from Taurus Drive, just north of Jeff Road, to Harvest Road. This segment of SR-53 carries about 19,000 vehicles daily.

Resurfacing of US-431 in Albertville to start

Nighttime resurfacing of US-431 in Albertville will begin the evening of Sunday, June 14.

Nighttime resurfacing of four miles of US-431 in Albertville will begin the evening of Sunday, June 14, weather permitting.

Rogers Group, the contractor on the $3 million project, will mill and pave the divided four-lane highway from south of SR-75 at Miller Street to Brashers Chapel Road.

Girders set for Mitchell Boulevard Bridge

Miller & Miller today installed bridge girders for the Mitchell Boulevard bridge over SR-20 in Florence.

Miller & Miller today installed bridge girders for the replacement of the northbound half of the US-43/US-72/Mitchell Boulevard bridge over SR-20 in Florence.

The six 137-foot girders — long, horizontal beams that will support the future bridge deck — each weigh 52.3 tons.

I-65N at Lacon to close for bridge repair

ALDOT will repair the deck of the northbound I-65 bridge, seen here behind the southbound bridge, over the CSX railroad beginning the evening of Tuesday, June 2. Northbound traffic will detour to US-31 at Exit 318 at Lacon.

ALDOT will close I-65 northbound at Exit 318 at Lacon in Morgan County for one night next week to repair the deck of the northbound bridge over the CSX railroad.

Weather permitting, ALDOT plans to close the northbound roadway about 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, and detour all northbound traffic to US-31.

Resurfacing of SR-24 between Red Bay, Belgreen to start

A $4.7 million project to resurface more than eight miles of SR-24 in western Franklin County will begin soon.

A $4.7 million project to resurface more than eight miles of SR-24 in western Franklin County will begin late this week or early next week, weather permitting.

The contractor, Rogers Group, will mill and pave the divided four-lane highway from SR-247 to west of CR-21.

I-59S to close for repair near DeKalb, Etowah line

The crossover carries traffic back from the northbound I-59 roadway to the southbound roadway at the south end of the project, south of Stephens Gap Road in Etowah County.

About 17 miles of I-59 southbound in Etowah and DeKalb counties will close Wednesday, May 13, for repairs to a crossover on an interstate reconstruction project. ALDOT anticipates the repairs taking several hours to complete.
