Lane closures planned for US-72/Florence Boulevard this week

Lane closures are planned this week for the US-72/Florence Boulevard widening project between Indian Springs Drive and Sky Park Road in Lauderdale County. The closures will be implemented outside peak travel times to limit impacts to traffic. 

The schedule of lane closures is:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 27 – westbound outside lane closure from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. for milling
  • Wednesday, Feb 28 – eastbound outside lane closure from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, for barrier rail reset
  • Saturday, March 2 – westbound single-lane closures possible for leveling

The $24 million project with Grayson Carter and Son Contracting is constructing additional lanes and traffic signals on the two-mile segment ending just east of Florence. The project is funded through a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development grant obtained by Lauderdale County as well as a combination of state and other federal funding.

Additional lanes are being constructed in each direction on US-72/Florence Boulevard in Lauderdale County.

This project will expand a two-mile segment of US-72/Florence Boulevard to six lanes from Indian Springs Drive to Sky Park Road east of Florence. The project is funded through a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development grant obtained by Lauderdale County as well as a combination of state and other federal funding.
