Crash fatalities decline in Alabama in 2024

Alabama saw a decline in traffic fatalities in 2024, according to the newly released Alabama Crash Facts report available online at the Drive Safe Alabama Website.

The report shows 967 motor vehicle fatalities statewide, down from 975 in 2023. Total crashes also fell, from just over 143,000 in 2023 to right above 140,000 in 2024....

An Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) resurfacing project on SR-223 in Pike County begins Monday, July 28, weather permitting.

The project will take place on SR-223 from US-29 to the Bullock County line.

This project includes resurfacing, shoulder widening and traffic stripe.    

Motorists should expect lane closures and reduced speed limits throughout the project….

Resurfacing of SR-133/Cox Creek Parkway will begin Sunday night. The project includes resurfacing through multiple intersections, including the intersection with Darby Drive.

Resurfacing of SR-133/Cox Creek Parkway in Florence will begin the evening of Sunday, July 27, weather permitting.

In the $1.4 million project, contractor Rogers Group will mill and resurface more than two miles of the corridor from US-72/Florence Boulevard to SR-17/Helton Drive.

Initial work will include milling at intersections, installing signal detection loops, and patching.
